Nagaon Beach Architecture On The Beaches

Nagaon Beach, situated 7 km from Alibaug, is a unique beach. It is a serene beach with calm water. The beach is covered with betel nut, coconut and suru trees and cypress groves. The beach, situated in Raigarh district of Maharashtra, is a central place for the other surrounding beaches like Murud, Kashid, Akshi, Thal, Alibaug, Kihim and Mandva. The famous song Sagar Kinare Dil Ye Pukare from the film Sagar was shot on this beach.

Alibaug area

It is predominantly a sandy beach unlike most other beaches in the Alibaug area. It is a vast expanse of flat beach with a soft and fine mixture of white and black sand. One can walk a long distance into the sea. The beach is safe for a dip in the water.

Water sports are additional entertainment in the Nagaon beach. The visitors can enjoy a wide range of water sports including parasailing, Jet-Ski rides, boating and swimming due to flat surface. Eight types of boats are available to meet the needs of the travellers. While Akshi beach is suitable for bird watching, Thal Beach is one of the largest fishing centres in India.

Thai Beach

Besides the beaches, forts and temples also attract tourists to the destination and its surrounding areas. Sagargad, associated with the Maratha ruler Shivaji, is a deserted fort. Situated some distance away from the destination, the fort is located at an altitude of 1357 ft. Kolaba Fort, built by Shivaji in 1680, is situated near Alibaug Beach. The Khanderi Fort, another 17th century fort, is situated near Thai Beach.

The ruins of the Revdanda Fort are a reminder of the Portuguese rule in India. A seven-storey tower and the fortification walls are what remain of the original fort. Lovely views of the sea can be had from this fort. Korlai Fort is situated at a distance.

Jai Bhavani Temple

Jai Bhavani Temple is an old temple that dates back to the 12th century. The main deity in the temple is Goddess Bhavani with eight arms and weapons. Someshwar Temple is about 3 km from Alibaug and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Brahma Kund is a big rectangular tank. There is an old temple dedicated to Lord Maruthi near the tank.

Birla Temple is situated 9 km from Nagaon Beach. The temple is situated within the Vikram Ispat premises. The temple has idols of Shree Radhakrishna, Shree Shiv-Parvati, Goddess Durga and Lord Surya.

Nagaon Beach has become a hot weekend destinations for the people of Mumbai and Pune. The tourists from Mumbai and Pune visit the beach due to clean water, best cottages, water sports and tasty sea foods, which are available at a reasonable price. The distance from Mumbai and Pune to the beach is about 100 km.

Most of the Nagaon Beach hotels also offers facilities for sightseeing expedition and jungle safaris, apart from pick-up and drop facilities from the various transit points.
